I am a fan of root beer. My friends and family know this, but I figured it was time to bring my love for this sweet drink to my website where I can share my experiences.
Root beer is an American creation—although there is always going to be a dispute about which one came first, I’ve read root beer existed before Coca-Cola started bottling their ubiquitous drink. Unlike Coke, root beer isn’t found all over the world and is still very much limited to North America with the United States really being the only place to get certain good varieties. In Canada we get the more commercial varieties produced by the big players: Coca-Cola and Pepsi, but some of the micro-brewed and local variations haven’t made it across the border. This section of my site is going to be devoted to reviewing the various types of root beer that I have tasted.
At the moment I am going to start with four types of root beer which are a bit harder to find in Canada—I only know of one store in Vancouver which sells them. As soon as I get a chance, I will also review the more common brands and tell you how they rank up.
